10? 20? 50!? Just how much plastic surgery has this guy had? There’s his chin, his eyes, his cheeks, his lips, and OMG that NOSE – That’s what you’ve heard right? Please!
While I don’t believe MJ’s words that he’s had only TWO surgeries on his nose, let’s keep with the facts and reduce all the other surgeries down to his nose and the cleft he admittedly put into his chin by recommendation of his plastic surgeon, Steve Hoefflin.
Rather than ranting on and on about this, I’m going to attempt to keep this post to minimum with visual proof. A picture speaks a thousand words, right? Well, I’ve got more than that for you. Let’s start with the least disputable: his eyes.
People didn’t start talking about Michael having his eyes enlarged until the mid to late 80s; around the Bad Era. If you remember correctly, this is also the era that he began to wear black eyeliner. Ask any make-up specialist will tell you, the purpose of eyeliner is to make your eyes stand out; make them appear larger than they really are.
In the first picture his eyes look smaller and he looks to be wearing very little to no eyeliner at all. The second picture his eyes are clearly outlined and are popping right out of the picture, his already big eyes looking even larger.
Some may argue that I’m only showing for one time period and he may have already had his eyes “enlarged” (Is this even possible?!?!) by this time or have not done so yet, so below is the same example extended across multiple decades. If you look closely you can see that his eyes look the same size and shape, depending on expression and make-up. Times when they look bigger:
and when they look smaller:
Just to drive the point home; have you ever seen his baby pictures? Just look at those eyes, they’ve always been big.
As for his lips you should be able to see that there’s little if any change in them over the years, but some of you need a little more convincing than that.
I’d like to think that we all know that MJ suffered from the skin disorder, vitiligo, which causes depigmentation of the skin. Unfortunately that also means losing your pigment around all openings on the body, meaning the lips around the eyes; hence the eyeliner previously spoken about and the lip make-up we saw from time to time as his disorder progressed. Without it those areas are left pale without pigment. Black people naturally have darker lips, and in MJ’s case that obviously changed, which is why he wore lip make-up as an attempt to bring back some color. Otherwise, his lips were pale and colorless.
People say that he had his lips thinned because they don’t hold the usual fullness recognized among the African American community. Well, since when do all African people have a wide nose and huge lips? You might as well be enforcing the stereotype on all of us! Not only that, but I don’t recall MJ ever exactly having the biggest lips in the world – They most definitely can’t compare to Jay Z’s.
And then there’s the rumour that he had his cheekbones implanted. Have any of you guys ever heard of genetics? First thing I want to point out is that every most members of the Jackson family have pronounced cheekbones, it’s a distinctive characteristic among them and likely to do with their strong Native American ancestry – perhaps some Chinese.
All of his siblings have them, the sisters:
And the brothers:
If all of Michael’s siblings can have high cheekbones, why is it that he would need to go out and buy some of his own? What makes you think he didn’t have them already[see above and below photos], and why would he change them? In addition to that point: As men age their facial features get stronger and more pronounced; by the time they hit their thirties their jaws have squared off and/or gained whatever definition is genetically meant for them.
That brings me to his nose.
Michael had his very first rhinoplasty after falling and breaking his nose during rehearsals for the Destiny Tour with his brothers. He’d been threatening Joseph about getting it done for ages, but seemed too scared to actually go through with it; now he had an excuse. Whoever did it was no veteran because Michael complained of breathing issues and worried about the affect it would have on his singing voice, so it was redone properly producing the nose we see during the Off the Wall Era. Through recommendation, he had met Steve Hoefflin, the plastic surgeon who would do any follow-up procedures.
That’s two so far. The slimmer nose we see during the Bad Era was the third, and from there we can see it resembles what we see throughout the rest of his life:
We all know that Joseph often took to teasing Michael about his nose, and Michael’s not the only one in the family to have had his nose done. It’s ironic that Joseph would speak so ill of the nose that he gave to every one of his children. Because of this, most perceive the reason for Michael “many” surgical alterations to be in effort to delete all resemblance of his father. It isn’t that far out there of an idea with him having admitted to truly hating his father at one point. And who wants to look like someone who’s caused them so much hurt and pain? The other reason – the main reason – for what was really going on with his nose has to do with his lupus, which I will get into further down below.
This Image:
I find people repeatedly bringing this up as fact that MJ had one too many rhinoplasties, causing for his nose to finally collapse. Number one: If his nose truly was that bad I doubt he would have left his house with it looking like that. Number two: How was he able to get it repaired so quickly in future images taken of him?
This picture is not evidence of Michael’s nose being destroyed, it’s simply analgesic tape which is worn on the nose to prevent allergies. He’s a singer.
I’m not going to lie and say that I know the exact number of plastic surgery he’s had, just the fact that it was only on his nose and not so many as has been reported; as proven the “astronomical” amounts of rhinoplasties can be whittled down to around three. However, I do believe that over the last twenty years of his life he’s had reconstructive surgery around his nose due to the destruction of his skin around his nose; the discoid lupus.
There’s also his vitiligo that played a part in his decision to have surgery. The nose is the most prominent feature on our faces and in changing it we can make ourselves look a lot different. It is African Americans, especially, who have lost their pigment that feel out of place – and in Michael’s own words, disfigured, according to Deepak Chopra – with the desire to look as “normal” as possible it’s a route they might take given enough money.
Very few people actually like their noses anyway; least of all African Americans who have been brainwashed into thinking ill of themselves for centuries, stimulating the desire to alter themselves into what is considered the “standard” (in other words, what’s “normal” or “acceptable” to look like in white American culture). The nose is one of the most operated on parts of the body:
In 2006, nearly 11 million cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States alone. The number of cosmetic procedures performed in the United States has increased over 50 percent since the start of the century. Nearly 12 million cosmetic procedures were performed in 2007, with the five most common surgeries being breast augmentation, liposuction, nasal surgery, eyelid surgery and abdominoplasty. The increased use of cosmetic procedures crosses racial and ethnic lines in the U.S., with increases seen among African-Americans and Hispanic Americans as well as Caucasian Americans. In Europe, the second largest market for cosmetic procedures, cosmetic surgery is a $2.2 billion business.[10]
The most prevalent aesthetic/cosmetic procedures include:
- Mammoplasty:
- Breast augmentations (“breast implant” or “boob job”)
- Buttock augmentation (“butt implant”)
- Lip enhancement: surgical improvement of lips’ fullness through enlargement
- Rhinoplasty (“nose job”): reshaping of the nose
- Suction-assisted lipectomy (“liposuction”): removal of fat from the body
- Chin augmentation (“chin implant”)
But let’s forget about Michael and his plastic surgery for a moment and pick on other people, he’s not the only who’s had work done. I believe it was on Oprah in 1993 that he once said “If everyone in Hollywood who has had plastic surgery were to go on vacation, there wouldn’t be a person left in town.” Damn right!
And for those of you who see MJ as the prime example of plastic surgery at its worst…Then let me introduce you to Jocelyn Wildenstein and Janice Dickinson who admit their love for plastic surgery with wild abandon:
In comparison to Michael:
Think about that. Maybe not to Jocelyn’s extent, but how many of you have insecurities, and have faced the pain of having you insecurities constantly magnified until you just want to get rid of them? A tummy tuck, liposuction, bigger or smaller breasts, lip plumping, or even more likely your nose; all it takes is the right amount of cash.
Michael was a perfectionist and was always making minor adjustments on everything that he did, surgery aside, it was the way he was. Suppose he really did decide to get all the plastic surgery people who have never met him in his life claim he did, it would be nobody’s business but his own – Even if he did get fifty plus nose jobs including eyes, nose, lips, whatever – that would be his decision.
Because MJ became so widely known for his alleged plastic surgery, people began to attribute any change in his physical appearance to plastic surgery rather than natural causes like aging, camera angles and flashes, facial expressions, etc. Many times throughout his life he changed his hair, make-up, and style, factors that can lead to someone looking completely different than they did before, but even more than that his skin changed colour which made his change look far more drastic than it actually was (Light vs Dark; Darker things tend to make features look bigger and stand out whereas lighter things tend to make features look smaller).
Everyday we see different actors and actresses in movie roles where there appearance is different from their norm, Johnny Depp is a perfect example. He’s played multiple different roles that have required him to have varying amounts of make-up applied as Michael did for his vitiligo. I’m sure that he didn’t have plastic surgery to go through any of these changes:

Point made.
To put it simply; let’s keep the number to a minimum. Besides do we not teach our children in this country never to judge someone based on how they look, but the content of their character? Are these judgements not rooted in the sort of ignorance that continues to power behind the world’s continually prejudiced societal differences?
Either way, to me, Michael Jackson was and always will be a beautiful man; inside and out.

Great article. I don’t think Michael had half as many surgeries as a lot of people think. Different angles, lighting, hair styles and background color all make a difference. It’s so easy to touch up a photo and make it look really bad. Look at poor Obama. Tabloids love to cath him talking and post their photos when his mouth is in a weir position. He’s a good looking man, but most photos I see are bad. That’s how the tabloids want to portray him. Same thing they did with MJ. To me, all the pics on this site just proves, he didn’t have that many.
Most was his nose which he did hate, but yes it was mostly corrective jobs he needed. This was way over blown by the media, so they wouldn’t have to write about his talent, beauty and his extreme generosity. How much of that did we ever hear from the media. Pretty much nothing, even though the list is endless for all the good he did. Media never cared about that = most of their readers didn’t either. Sad, what they all missed, and are still missing.

It’s the whole science of photography to manipulate these various elements and with MJ being as big as he was nobody cared about attaining proper angles, it was all about just getting the shot period. As for how much of his humanitarian deeds were presented…I’d say around 4% or less.
I finally have time to get back to work on this blog so I’m working on a bunch of things; one on his humanitarianism has been a loooong time coming. LOL, I started it almost a year ago and have yet to post it; same goes for a bunch of other articles.
As always, thanks for reading.

I read somewhere that the discoloration of his nails and the often red splotches on his face had something to do with the Lupus that he had. I forget exactly what it said, but it made sense to me.

Oh yeah, there’s that, too. I can’t think of what the specifics would’ve been, but I feel like I’ve read something similar.

Love the article. But what intrigues me the most is why Michael fingers didn’t changed? Also why were they always dirty like ink marks? I seems as though he was airbrushed and this area wiped off easier. Also, I heard Howard Stern said, when he met Michael, when he rubbed his nose the ink mark stained his bandaged on his nose. This isn’t the first to hear this, this disturbs me, cause I’m thinking more of the movie “Death becomes her” with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, they dranked a potion to look young and the price was immortality, but they had to have a plastic surgeon to keep there bodies from deteriorating. I know, a movie, but such similarities. Vitilago, I met people with it, black have white patces, not white with black patches…so go figure!!!!

I’m pretty sure the smudges on his fingers will have had to do with trying to wear make-up on his hands that would’ve repeatedly gotten rubbed off through washing hands etc. Then there’s the case that his fingers just tended to get dirty playing in the dirt and climbing trees and stuff lol. I think it’s pretty safe to say he was a nature lover.

Your blog entry was very informative. I really think that so many people believe the plastic surgery rumors because of Michael’s Vitiligo. The biggest change in Michael’s appearance was his skin color. I don’t believe that he had any surgery on his lips, cheekbones, eyes, it was his nose and the cleft . Any further surgery on his nose due to Lupus complications were reconstructive not cosmetic. Keep up the good work.

Thank you,, I’m glad that more and more people are finding out. Everyone looks just at his overall face, they don’t take into account how the actual features of his face stayed the same.

I know you posted this article a while back, but just wanted to say, according to the autopsy, Michael did not have any cosmetic surgery, other than to his nose and the scarred area on his scalp from the 80′s. He didn’t have a facelift or any other surgical procedures, and that is according to the Medical Examiner and the Official Autopsy Report.
The Medical Examiner reported all the changes made were by use of fillers, such as his chin and cheekbones – and not by cutting / a scalpel.

Yes, thank you, that’s what my main point is in this article, that it was just the few on his nose and the cleft in his chin – which he even admitted to in his autobiography. The surgery he had on his scalp was more reconstructive to his skin and definitely not cosmetic. It was in relation to the Pepsi burn and his skin disorder lupus which I’ve also posted on.
Thank you.

The extreme whiteness of his skin would also make his features look different.. Light versus dark background will change your looks. I saw pics of people before and after vitiligo. It made their features look totally different. Doesn’t really matter, It’s what’s in the heart that counts, and he had a big one. Every one of us could have been born in an ugly or a beautiful body. Wouldn’t change the person inside. Michael has my greatest respect for the person he was and the wonderful legacy he left behind. I do believe he is slowly being vindicated, but we still have a long way to go. I am impressed with how many sites are working together toward this goal and all the wonderful info I’ve found. Your site is worth add ing to my bookmarks. Thank you for your efforts and the interesting reading.

Thank you so much, and I meant to add that point about the darkness to light affect on the size of your features. I’m planning on rewriting a few of my posts.
I agree that he’s slowly being vindicated too; MJ’s probably the only celebrity to have literally millions of blogs across the net dedicated to clearing his legacy. It just shows how much we all loved him and the fact that so many of us aren’t even professional people but are finding out the truth should say something. If people with better access took up the task too, we get it out a lot faster.

Well, hopefully more people with better access will see the truth and start talking, however, I doubt that will happen . There’s just so much bs out there. Every time I hear some one say “the evidence, or the facts say”, I have to ask them, what evidence, what facts? Just tell me what you believe and why you believe it. It all comes down to what they read in the tabloids, and so easy to refute. You know, you give them the the real facts and real evidence, and they still hang on to their beliefs, because they are so totally brainwashed by the media, they can’t see the truth when you slap them in their face with it.
The media has been Michael’s judge and jury for so long, and the public just believes these idiots who make their living off the ratings, but This man, this human being, not a weirdo, wrote and sang songs about helping the world and children to have a better life.
He did more good, and showed more christian L.O.V .E than anybody I’ve ever known and was so totally crucified for it by the press. I will never be able to understand
the public’s opinion of him just because they read it in the press? It should be obvious by now that the press has their own war against Michael, not to mention Sneddon . He was found not guilty. Period. That does mean that he wasn’t guilty, right, lol? It’s all pretty simple if people would just take the time to read the facts instead of taking the TABLOIDS opinion. Sad to say, most people won’t do their research and will continue to argue about his guilt, and we, who believe in Michael will continue to bring out the truth. Hopefully the truth will prevail.

The L.O.V.E. he showed and who he was as a person is what infuriates me most and why I try so hard to clear his name.
Even with professional books they’ll add in BS about him. I was just reading a book yesterday about icons of the 20th century and they just had to mention the elephant man and hyperbaric chamber story – not even having the decency to say “alleged” they wrote about it like it was fact.
I feel because people are so willing to forget this “freak”, they just seem to not care, I mean at least with the younger generation. As for adults it’s like they can’t help but remember him and the love he gave to them, but because their thoughts of him have been so brainwashed by the media they can only say those things about him.
It’s not even entirely their fault. The people should be able to trust the media as a source of truth not entertainment that takes pot shots at undeserving individuals. Plus, people often times just don’t seem to know where to look to do the research themselves. It’s like MJ said; the more you hear a lie, the more you begin to believe it and, unfortunately, that’s what’s happened here…to millions world wide. That’s why I’ve got the Malcolm X quote because it’s just so true; they do control the minds of the masses.
